Live Review: LISTEN: Beachwood Sparks, ‘Sparks Fly Again’

Beachwood Sparks' latest ditty 'Sparks fly again' true to it's word, will get your sparks flying. Alternative country at its best.

The vintage 1960s feel of BEACHWOOD SPARKS’ latest tune, ‘Sparks Fly Again’ is highly layered and leaves the listener feeling pleasantly surprised. As someone who had never heard any of BEACHWOOD SPARKS’ songs before, this was the melody responsible for turning a skeptic into a believer.

‘Sparks Fly Again’ contains twangy country strings mixed with choral vocals, reminiscent of The Beach Boys. “This goes out to my good friend” is the first taste of vocals in the song, and the tune seems to hold a theme of friendship, which adds to the sweetness that the instrumental brings in at around the 2-minute mark.

Psychedelic guitar intertwines itself into the ditty, causing the deliciously retro feel of the song to flourish, triggering sparks to fly, not only for BEACHWOOD SPARKS, but for the listeners as well.

The pastiche of sounds featured in ‘Sparks Fly Again’ allow you to float off into the lovely breeze that this song seems to produce, even while sitting in a dreary, grey office.

I may just sit back and listen once again, drift off into a simpler time and wait for the waves that crash in the last few bars of this song to gently rock me back into reality.
