We best know the music of Perth five piece BASTIAN'S HAPPY FLIGHT for their use of pop and funk collated with a nostalgic disco theme. This vintage signature is something fans have grown very warm to, which is probably why the band received WAM Awards' Best Electronic Song in 2011 for their track 'My Love'.

They've consistently been touring and creating music since, which has seen a few singles run our way. Before they unveil their Heart/Works EP in August, the guys have dropped their single 'Hooray...' that is to be released on June 24th!

There's something very 80s about 'Hooray...', I think it's due to the prestigious programming, funky disco elements and the inclusion of both electric guitar and synthesizers present in the one track.

It's the sort of song you'd expect to see grace the smokey hazey stage of an American high school prom, minus the dagginess of the occasion. There's both flute-like synths and prolonged melodramatic keyboard lines, next to the clicks and patterns of hand snaps and wind chimes. Beyond the rhythm section lays more percussive sounds, guitars and hollow vocals. This rich and thick instrumentation clearly makes one mighty track!

With a name relating to the [best] movie [ever], Neverending Story, it's no wonder Bastian's Happy Flight encapsulates this vintage sound.

'Hooray...' will be available on iTunes, Amazon and more on 24th June.

For all of our Perth friends, be delighted with the fact that Bastian's Happy Flight will be launching the single and fundraising for their EP at The Bakery on 21st June! Grab your tickets HERE.
