ASDASFR BAWD appeared in a smoke haze of unpronounceable letter combinations and truly unique music in 2015, and now he time has finally come for his debut EP, Underpass to drop.
At just 19, Asdasfr Bawd (pronounced az-das-a-fah bor-d), gives the illusion that he is much older, and musically wiser. It’s often pointed out original music is hard to come by now, given the plethora of talent and electronica on the Internet, but Underpass is a selection of 6 songs not like what you might expect.
Each track has it’s own unique spin, however you can still hear some kind of synthesis between them all. Ranging form a focus on woodwind-esque sounds (‘Underpass’) to rhythm and percussion (‘Alsp’), through to almost pop like vocals blurred with distorted darker voices (‘Negative Energy’,) there is an intricate focus within each song.
‘Alsp’ has an almost hip hop or rap vibe to it (although die hard fans of that genre may shudder at that, emphasis is on the word vibe), proving the breadth to Asdasfr Bawd’s general musical appreciation. All in all Underpass can pretty much encapsulate just about any mood you are feeling. Definitely something you could play in full on a long drive and feel a bit of everything, never getting bored.
