Aluna Francis has got the kind of voice that would sound perfect in a top forty hit, with some huge beat and dance-synths behind it, probably ft. Ne-yo.
So it’s really extra cool that with ‘Your Drums, Your Love’ she and the other half of ALUNAGEORGE, George Reid, have gone for a different angle and made a track that’s both completely polished and actually interesting.
It starts out with some squelching, liquid beats and a fractured, heavily modified vocal, before the drums start to hit harder and George’s voice really takes centre stage. The chorus is the kind of heart-on-your-sleeve release that a track like this deserves, with soaring synths helping to pack a major emotional punch.
