Live Review: Let Akurei take you up to the 'Hinterland'

You may recognise Brisbane-based producer Connor Grant from the various musical projects he's been involved with over the years. He was the mastermind behind Whisperer and also a part of Golden Vessel's amazing live show, but now, he's come back with his own original music under the new moniker AKUREI.

His first single as Akurei is called 'Hinterland' and is quite a personal release. Connor said the song is about "finding a space to reflect". The airy textures share his vision of going for a long walk through nature, with each element blending together to create something natural and light.

Connor's iconic vocals float over hovering synths as they warm up the track like sunshine on your back. Soon after, 'Hinterland' bursts into a groove that seems to sway over the atmospheric textures and make you feel completely at ease. If you needed a song to completely zone out to, this is it.

This is, of course, only the beginning. Connor has a bunch of work ready to be released and we get the feel that Akurei is going to be his best project yet.
