AKA Lui taps Lazywax for a funk-driven remix of his latest single, 'Pushing Me Aside', ready made for long summer nights ahead.
Just last month, Northern NSW artist AKA Lui returned to our radars with the dreamy break-up anthem, 'Pushing Me Aside'. Sitting somewhere between Tame Impala and MGMT, it was a psychedelic-tinged slice of indie pop, infused with soul, funk and disco flourishes to make something truly unique. Now, he's bringing the track further to life with a very special remix premiering on Purple Sneakers today courtesy of Lazywax.
Featuring intergalactic synths, a strutting bass line and glowing atmospherics, Lazywax's production provides the perfect accompaniment for Lui's relaxed but alluring vocals. It's such a feel good remix, jam packed with that eager anticipation of long summer nights ahead and uplifting but still laidback euphoria. Where the original played with space, leaving room for the listener to inject their own storyline into the mix, Lazywax fills it all out, exploring the existing tale with a peculiar, funk-driven and enticing lens.
AKA Lui said of the remix, "The Lazywax injection into this song flips the vibe upside down and has it feeling like a real summer jam. It gives you the idea that it's all going to be okay despite the sometimes melancholy nature of the lyrics. "Lazywax Vol1" is one of my favourite releases of the last year, so it's been dope hearing my voice dripped over that Lazywax aesthetic."
With plenty more still to come from AKA Lui, this remix will more than tide us over for now. Listen below:
