Wearing his sexuality on his sleeve like a war wound, Larry Dean regaled the crowd with tales of his coming out, the hypocrisy and religious nastiness from his homophobic brother and being flanked by three overzealous Melbourne tram ticket inspectors.
Mocking his inability to fit a gay stereotype seemed to win the mostly straight crowd over, but Dean is one of those blokes who is so comfortable in his own skin, the charm sprayed over everyone without the need to get crude. Ditching the microphone altogether at one point, his confidence bolstered and he seemed even more relaxed. At just 26, he's been through a lot, but he's proving terrific at turning his frowns upside down.
