"An apt title for the five-track gem."

The raw charm of Kate Smith's lilting breathy vocals are plain for all to hear on her debut EP Day Dreams.

It's an apt title for the five-track gem; Smith's humble crooning gives voice to all those universal soul-stirring emotions like love, longing and pain. The Newcastle songstress gently guides us through some of the deeper sentiments on sparse, acoustic strummers Mayfair and Hitch Hiker, then amps things up with some twangy electric guitar in That's Her. The Boy & The Stream is when Smith's storytelling nous is on full show though; it's the penny drop moment when we get what this little lady is all about.
