Not a deal breaker but sure doesn’t seal the deal either.
Kate Nash's brand of London-gal pop has placed her in the predicament of low audience expectation. Girl Talk kicks off on firm footing, Part Heart revelling in angsty, grinding guitars around a waltzing beat, only to revert back to that sunny, piano-laden sound offset by Nash's double-tracked, adamant vocal that made 2008's Made of Bricks so enchanting. But even that old, attitude-ridden formula quickly wore thin. Plus you can hear the metronome clicks on the pitchy Lullaby For An Insomniac. Not a deal breaker but sure doesn't seal the deal either.
