Built On Broken Bones Vol 1 is the long-awaited debut album from rising UK troubadour Joseph J Jones. After releasing a number of well-received singles over the past few years (EP Hurricane is an absolute belter) the former amateur boxer turned musician lays his soul bare with this spectacular northern soul-inspired release.

Similar to modern English neo-soul crooners Rag‘n’Bone Man and John Newman, Jones is an undeniable talent with a soaring baritone that’s hard to forget. Jones’ passionate voice pulls you in over the driving persuasion and dazzling ivories of euphoric pop number Die Young. Previously released All Or Nothing drops the techno production and transforms into a nuanced ballad while album opener No Mercy is another tremendous display of Jones’ powerful delivery. Lead single Tears & Tequila depicts a hedonistic holiday romance as Jones ponders what might have been over a bubbling cocktail of downtempo electronica with an '80s lounge vibe.
