Album Review: Jordie Lane & The Sleepers - GLASSELLLAND

StarStarStarStar

"Timmy Rogers, Courtney Barnett and Nick Cave rolled into one melancholy regret melody."

Truth be told, there's not really a bad sound on this album, rustling around as Jordie Lane's brushy voice and new folky style does.

Particular winners include Fredrick Steele McNeil Ferguson, Better Not Go OutsideDreamin' The Life (complete with its reminder to have spare underpants - seriously) and Interlude #31 for its creepy Mr Whippy van-like awesome. While competition for the best lyric is tough, for mine the winner is "How does she squeeze the truth from my drink?" from the final track Rambling Mind. Damn it's good. Timmy Rogers, Courtney Barnett and Nick Cave rolled into one melancholy, regretful melody. Worth the album for this tune alone.
