"Evidence that maybe Hendrix hadn’t completely run out of ideas after all."
The second official posthumous Hendrix LP, Rainbow Bridge is a loose, jazzy affair.
The instrumental, Pali Gap, showcases Hendrix’s fly away improvisation, whilst the live exploration of Hear My Train A Comin’ exemplifies his ability to melt through blues’ scales at will. The album also features his inverted Star Spangled Banner demolition, which was either a deft Vietnam protest or the weakest song in his catalogue depending on where you stand.
Not on a par with his most incendiary material, but evidence that maybe Hendrix hadn’t completely run out of ideas after all.
