Sometimes it can be difficult to separate your stock-standard country music exponents from those who aren't afraid to push the boundaries of the genre. Bona fide American country superstar, Jake Owen, is one of the few in the current landscape unafraid to differentiate himself from the Kenny Chesneys, the Keith Urbans and the Brad Paisleys of this world. Verse-and-chorus structures are diverse and fluid, synthesisers and organs make pleasant cameos (Beachin'), and although Owen's lyrical content sticks within the genre (trucks, tequila, tail), it's delivered in a refreshing manner.
