Live Review: Jack River takes us back to childhood summers with new cover

Full of nostalgia, Jack River has announced her debut EP will be out in just over a month, as well as sharing a stellar new cover of Cigarettes After Sex.

I OH YOU has a long list of artists over the years who have stolen our hearts, no matter what kind of genre you're into. Jack River is one of the label's most recent signings and her voice will absolutely melt your heart. Jack River is the musical moniker of Holly Rankin and if you've heard the track 'Talk Like That', you'll know that her infectious melodies are very fresh and the perfect soundtrack to a relaxing afternoon.

Now that we know who we're dealing with, we can all get excited about Jack River's debut EP Highway Songs No.2 which has just received a release date of October 7.

'Talk Like That' was the first track to be released from the EP and Rankin has also released a delectable cover of 'Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby', a track made famous by Cigarettes After Sex.

The cover of 'Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby' has been released with an accompanying music video, which Rankin shot herself on a recent trip to the U.S. With all of the nostalgic 90's feels, the video just makes you think of summer holidays when you spent your time out in the sun, eating a Calipo and forgetting about your troubles. The cover stays true to Jack River's soft melodies, but hard guitars add a tough edge that then takes the track into new territory that sounds not unlike Best Coast.
