Live Review: Purple Sneakers' Best Songs of 2017
Another year has come and gone, and with it, a whole 12 months worth of music. This year saw electronic music claim its stake across a slew of other genres including pop, RnB and hip-hop, while global popstars teamed up with emerging producers to make forward thinking and genre-defying mixtapes. Australian artists once again proved to hold their own at home and beyond, showing the rest of the world just how strong our music scene continues to be, and we saw a multitude of artists working together to make incredible new songs.
Here at Purple Sneakers, we've been #TrustedForTaste for 12 years now, and our passion for emerging artists has only grown stronger. We've thrown parties throughout the year, booking artists we can't get enough of, while also playing them on our radio show and in our Purple Sneakers DJs sets, and covering them on our website. Now, our writing team has put our heads together to narrow down our favourite songs of the year, and thanks to Purple Sneakers DJs' Caitlin Medcalf, we've compiled them all together in a megamix to send the year out in true style.
Each writer picked five songs we've loved this year, and you can peep the whole tracklist below. From chart-topping worldwide hits to some of Australia's finest emerging artists, this mix has got it all and captures the rich tapestry that was music in 2017.
