Live Review: FREE DOWNLOAD: Jacques Greene FADER Mix

20-year-old producer from Montreal, Canada JACQUES GREENE has managed to produce a mix to battle and conquer all atmospheric house mixes that have come before.

This collection of beats made for The FADER is an hour-long set filled with peppery dub, wildly deep house and even features splices of drum and bass.

Greene’s mix of ‘Paranoid London’- Paris Dub 1 is a stand out as a clashing of sounds come together to burst in minimal glory. You can’t help but feel the obvious European house influence that is reflected in Greene’s style of mixing.  Sassy, breathy vocals compliment the mix and at around the 10-minute mark you can’t help but notice a slight likening to house divas Azari & III as the beats speed up and the bass lowers.

From minimal and challenging the mix takes a sharp turn into poppy electro and begins a skittish phase at around the 17-minute mark. The complex and disjointed sounds somehow compliment each other as the crazed beats slow right down into a jam of relaxed melodies. This FADER mix truly exhibits the range of genres that Greene enjoys playing with as this slow jam intertwines R & B.

Galactic chimes are mixed with deep drum and bass as the set progresses, creating a genuine journey for the listener. This is what the ultimate aim of a progressive and original mix should achieve, a layered and cohesive journey through sound.

Greene maintains a certain level of cool in his set, not getting too excited nor showing too much emotion when mingling the final moments of this mix. Greene ends much like he begins, with minimal house being at the forefront of the epic journey that he has carved out for The FADER.
