Not many shows could boast 60 to 70 people through the door not long after 6pm, but such is the strength of the under-age heavy scene in Perth. So consider it done as El Capitan justified their place on the bill with a respectable opening set.
Another young band making quite the impression is Mom, Dad & The Kids whose newer, more manic material (from an EP to be released later that night) sat well amongst their slower, southern sound of the old.
Also having made some stylistic changes of late, Only Hope continued to do just so, evolving their sound further with each exposure. Despite taking a while to bring fluency to the set, the inclusion of clean vocals and more melodic textures, when executed well, brought a distinctive dimension to the band's sound.
The gracious hosts of the evening, Foxes brought a heavier set (such is the versatility of the act) that showcased some fine new material ahead of their first venture into the US market with an upcoming split release. Yet again, they killed it!
