Live Review: LISTEN: Flume 'Tropical Sun'

Sydney's Flume has just dropped his latest track ‘Tropical Sun’ with a chilled vibe that has us very excited for the summer festival season

Sydney producer FLUME has just dropped his latest track ‘Tropical Sun’ with a chilled vibe that has us getting excited for the summer festival season. It opens with spirited percussion – reminiscent of tropical bongo drums – and a female vocal track, which FLUME often works into his productions.

Not as dynamic and powerful as his earlier pieces, ‘Tropical Sun’ is one to lie back and relax with. His creative weaving of percussive and synth elements, along with melodic chimes, makes for a different sort of dance track.

FLUME slows it down for a bit, allowing us to revel in the hypnotic vocals and enveloping sound which he is well-known for creating, before rising up once more, one element at a time, into the smooth bass.

‘Tropical Sun’ evokes more a deep house sound and is an exciting look at more of the material to come. FLUME will be playing Parklife this year (check the full lineup HERE) and is due to release an album towards the end of 2012.
