We've teamed up with mgmt & touring collective, Astral People to grab party playlists from those playing their 5th birthday. Check out Andy Garvey's picks!

We're getting closer to Astral People's fifth birthday celebrations. A management and touring collective scouting pioneers and throwing memorable parties, the boys have done so much for our local music scene, and have most certainly established themselves as a Sydney institution.

Aiding anticipation for their huge birthday bash that is to inhabit both rooms of Sydney's Oxford Art Factory this weekend, we've already hit up Winston Surfshirt and Baro for their optimum top five party jams. Already bestowing some real good noise, we today excitedly invite Andy Garvey as our latest selector.

An integral member of both Sydney's music and warehouse scenes, you've probably already caught her DJing at a party or two around town. Having played many an Astral People event in the past, she's also recently stepped up to the decks at VolumesRambo RelaxoPicnic SocialFull Bloom, and our very own Purple Sneakers Tenth Birthday, and has supported the likes of Julio BashmoreAnthony NaplesMall GrabSonderrKenton Slash DemonCassianHarvey Sutherland and Touch Sensitive. This is all of course when she's not busy on live radio, formerly on Sunsets with Future Classic and now currently steering her own show, Pure Space, on FBi Radio 94.5FM.

Super stoked for what she has to throw down at the party this Saturday, Andy Garvey twisted the brief a little with her party playlist, and we're more than okay with that! Here's how she chose her selection, followed by the tunes in a chronological party order themselves.

"So I turned this into more of a, "If I was playing all night at a birthday, here is what I would play and why". I kind of imagined what I would play at a house party."

Simple Symmetry 'King Solomon’s Mine'

"This one’s nice and light to kick things off... No one’s really ready to dance yet, but they’re trying to suss the vibe of the party... Keep it light, don’t scare anyone away too early!"

Mark E 'RnB Drunkie'

"... People are starting to look like they want to dance, but no one’s actually moving... So you put this one on and well... You can’t not right!?"

DJ Fett Burger & Jayda G 'NYC Party Track'

"Party mode initiated."

Palms Trax 'Sumo Acid Crew'

"It’s late now and you can start to take things a little darker. Push the boundaries a little."

Fatima Yamaha 'Half moon rising'

"Sun starts to rise, people are blissing out - cue this one up."

5 Years Of Astral is happening this Saturday night, 22nd October at Sydney's Oxford Art Factory, featuring live performances from Wave RacerBaro (debuting his full live band), Polographia, Mall GrabWinston SurfshirtCliques going back to back with Preacha and The Posse, with DJ sets from Andy Garvey, Love Bombs, Sea Breeze and Mira Boru.
