Bringing to life a cult comedy with highly revered characters would never be a simple task, let alone attempting to recreate one that was originally penned by someone who is widely regarded as a comic genius.
Faulty Towers The Dining Experience attempts, and for the most past succeeds, in doing just this, as the attendees are transported for two hours into the Faulty trio's chaotic world while enjoying a three-course meal.
The evening plays largely the same as 'The Dining Experience' seen in other shows around the globe, with the dysfunctional ribbing of hoteliers Basil and Sybil haphazardly containing the bumbling Manuel from destroying a dinner service, the patrons and themselves.
What does set it apart, however, are the performances from Andy Foreman, Karen Hamilton and Paul O'Neil, which not only do the roles justice, they do so in a waggish and genuine manner that sparks side-splitting laughter from every Faulty fan in the room.
Foreman, in particular, shines as the communicatively challenged waiter Manuel, giving a riveting and hilarious act from start to finish with hysterical stretches of ad-libbing to consistently inject life into the room.
Though a theatre dining experience may be far from some people's taste, if you are a fan of Crooked S Hotel, this is certainly worth an evening out.
