Family Fold is the new band guise for Paul Andrews, formerly of Sydney pop classicists Lazy Susan.
His stock in trade mostly remains the conscious and unconscious couplings and uncouplings of suburban relationships, which he knowingly observes. Insecurities can hide behind the jaunty Folds-ian piano of Single Twin, or things can get reflective as the pedal steel sobs through Pot Of Gold. A sparing use of a female voice in harmony — or giving the other point of view — in a couple of songs shows Andrews retains his gift for often revealing conversations. Grown-up pop music, done well.
