Eat Your Heart OutEat Your Heart Out's debut album Florescence is packed with all the stereotypical elements of punk rock, but it’s the band’s ability to couple tones of adolescent angst with a mellow maturity that makes them such a good listen.
The Newcastle outfit draw inspiration from carousel music in the opening track, foreshadowing the experiences of doubt and emotional dilemmas they’ll sing about throughout the release. What’s great about a band like Eat Your Heart Out is that their music will appeal to everyone – the teens and 20-somethings battling through life’s conundrums, and the 30-somethings looking to reminisce about the carefree ways of their youth.
Guitars push and pull with their own emotional voice in Heavy With Envy, as singer Caitlin Henry’s powerful tone pulsates with an enviable power. The riffs are simple in tracks like Constellations and Same Stars, and the lyrics are, at times, predictable. But Eat Your Heart Out have mastered and maintained the simplicity of punk, making this album such a great listen and Eat Your Heart Out ones to watch.
