Electronic music fans have more to bite into on Melbourne producer Eden Altman aka Eastward's latest EP Laurie Came Home.
Texture and structure are sorely missed in some electro releases, where repetition and an able hand behind a laptop reign, but Altman's four-track release entrances and satisfies on many levels. For starters, the man knows his way around a guitar and it's put to good use throughout. Old Green Thumb and Eye Twitch are simply rife with bluesy riffs and bursts, as well as surrounded by neat, glitchy beats and arching, earthy melodic lines, while Golden Morning employs Tinpan Orange's Emily Lubitz to add some eerie vocal tracking to its shimmering bursts of synth.
