Album Review: Doe Paoro - After

"Inspirational, sweeping soundscapes that take the listener to far-flung places."

More Doe Paoro More Doe Paoro

With a voice of gold, Los Angeles-based Doe Paoro is unafraid to support her lyrics with the type of inspirational, sweeping soundscapes that take the listener to far-flung places.

Refusing to rest on the laurels established with her 2012 debut record, Slow To Love, she counterbalances the ambitious arrangements of Traveling and Growth/Decay with driven, single-minded moments like Hypotheticals and the La Roux-esque Nostalgia. With enough light to contrast the dark, it's a shame there are fewer ballads than appeared on Slow To Love. Nonetheless, After is flexible enough to prove that Doe Paoro doesn't owe anybody anything.
