Album Review: Dick Diver - Melbourne, Florida

More Dick Diver Dick Diver

Dick Diver’s third album comes with feverish anticipation, and with good reason. Their first two records are stellar signposts for the evolution of Australian music in the past decade, and in Tearing The Posters Down they’ve created a bona fide sun-drenched classic. Opener Waste The Alphabet offers some skewed rock, while the laconic drawling of Beat Me Up and the motorik pastiche of Competition are great. Yet while a number of new musical twists have been thrown into the mix, Melbourne, Florida is subdued fare that plateaus early and in the main floats languorously into the sunset.
