At first glance David Quirk seems a little unprepared (and a constant checking of the watch adds to the unease), well, really, underprepared. But it means he can pull back the curtains on this stand-up thing, break the mirrors, blow out the smoke and just tell a good yarn; all this deconstruction while carefully and subtly assembling the perpetually downtrodden persona that makes this ill-preparation seem like part of the parcel. Don't let a few tired jokes about the Germans stop you getting along.
