Album Review: David Blyth - Winter Song

29 June 2014 | 10:54 am | Lukas Murphy

"Doesn’t lack energy and force in its delivery."

Softly spoken and, for that matter, softly played, sung and written, Melbourne singer-songwriter David Blyth's debut album, for all of that, doesn't lack energy and force in its delivery. Blyth has clearly given much thought to production in his first release, and uses musical dynamics very much to his advantage.

Such is particularly evident in the wonderful duet he performs with Tinpan Orange's Emily Lubitz in A Place To Call Home, which has so much free space you can hear the fingernails on the guitar strings and every breath they take.
