Album Review: Cooper Lower - Impetus

Currently holed up in his Victorian country homestead of Warrnambool, rising teenage troubadour-folk/bluester Cooper Lower seems ready to ramble through the world in the same romanticised Combi we like to imagine Jack Johnson or Passenger swearing by.

A delicate hand on the mixing desk allow Clocks and Stars some emotional oomph and Before I Fall Apart builds steadily, then crumbles hearts. The focus throughout remains on Lower's ambered vocals even if occasionally he has a definite Jose Gonzalez' tint (particularly on Trick Or Treat). A well-rounded debut, Impetus should give Lower momentum.
