A huge crowd filled the Big Top last Friday night for the religious burlesque experience of Church Of Wonders.

MC for the night, MamaShak, worked the audience praising the Lord (Chocolate Jesus) and leading the audience towards the light (between her thighs). The show progressed from Charleston kicking angels The Cheese Girls to the exorcism-esque fire-eating Elle Diablo. A few performance glitches and some questionable costume choices failed to bring the show up to the high quality burlesque seen around Fringe World, but with the help of a womb full of vagina jokes and heartfelt “hallelujahs” there were plenty of converts by the end.
