"This is a Ceres album through and through."

More Ceres More Ceres

You know when it’s a ripper of a day, but there’s that cloud looming overhead that makes you think it won’t stay like that, despite your positive disposition? That’s the mood of We Are A Team, in a not literal way of course. Though a little less morbid than their prior releases, this is a Ceres album through and through.

Passion, desire and despair are intertwined from start to finish. Marriage kicks things off with loved up lyrics infused with insecurity, and by a few songs in, you’ll notice a theme – special mentions: Dancing Patterns and Stay Awake. Love song Something Good ends the album graciously and perfectly, as frontman Tom Lanyon takes on a mature and realistic approach to romance. The introduction of new string instruments gives it that special touch. It’s over now, you’ll hit repeat and take the emotional ride all over again.

The developing sincerity and maturity in the band’s sound become more evident from track to track. Intricate details bind the album together, such as lyrics interwoven or the subtle sounds of a creaky floorboard. We Are A Team sees Ceres creating an intrinsically beautiful record highlighting self-doubt in the midst of happiness.
