While poignant, this album is likely to only work its charms on hardcore fans of very sparse and moody slowcore.
While Brisbane pianist/guitarist Jamie Curran could never be guilty of producing an album without a deeply personal connection, most listeners may find the drawn-out nature and often lyric-less sections of songs like Foghorn Faintly and Amphibian enough to alienate them. A shame. This Map Is Broken and New Habitat offer some lush guitar lines and folky ramblings. Regardless, one gets the sense criticism is largely irrelevant to the creative force behind this effort.
