There's something to be said for raw, deliberately minimalist folk music, and Dalton has the ability to prove it in spades. Originally from Ireland and now based here, Dalton has found happy middle ground in the traditional sounds of both countries. His second EP is mature yet emotive. While he does stick to specific contexts (the opening title track is about his time at Bluesfest), it's mostly about “the journey”, i.e. usual folk fare, but there's a lot of heartbreak and foresight – and while that may wear a little thin, Dalton pulls it off ably.
