Album Review: Bob Dylan - Triplicate

"Dylan is more interested in ticking some boxes on his bucket list rather than extending himself further."

More Bob Dylan More Bob Dylan

A labour of love, the scope of Triplicate sees one of music's greatest songwriters perform 30 "classic American songs".

Spread over three discs, Dylan's arrangements are fine, but far from exciting. It comes on the heels of two latest cover records, last year's Fallen Angels and Shadows In The Night (2015), suggesting Dylan is more interested in ticking some boxes on his bucket list rather than extending himself further. Of course, he owes nothing to anyone; his legacy speaks for itself. But this rather dull collection speaks more to self-indulgence than any artistic direction. This one's for collectors only.
