Manchester five-piece Blossoms admit to striding towards their boyhood dreams with an agreed view of writing and playing pop music.
That's all well and good if you're open to at least some experimentation or complexity. Sadly, their self-titled debut has not a lot to offer in this department. It's just all a bit beige, bland and all the other boring B-words. A couple of tracks stand out for a catchy lyric (Deep Grass) or a synthy '80s vibe (At Most A Kiss), even an acoustic heart-tugger (My Favourite Room). But most songs are indistinguishable from one to the next, and the few hits aren't enough to redeem the misses.
