Ben FoldsBen Folds loves an ambitious album concept and he outdoes himself with So There.
This is two albums in one as he teams up with classical ensemble yMusic for his regular jaunty pop songs over the first eight tracks. The last 21 minutes, meanwhile, comprise three entertaining piano concertos that would be perfect on Broadway. Folds' goofball side occasionally diminishes his songs but when he marries the right melody with the right emotional pitch, as he does on the breezy Capable Of Anything and uplifting I'm Not The Man, he delivers some cracking tunes and shows his formidable talent.
