Album Review: BEL - Melancholia

StarStarStarHalf Star

"Melancholia is an impactful, engaging EP from start to finish."

Melancholia is the first body of work released by Melbourne-based singer, songwriter and producer BEL.

With a sound reminiscent of artists like Banks and FKA Twigs, though still distinctly unique, BEL delivers six tracks of polished, emotive electronic indie-pop. On the EP, co-produced by multi-ARIA-nominated John Castle, BEL's sultry vocals deliver poetic lyrics over lush, electronic instrumentation. With six strong songs it's hard to pick a standout, though EP opener and title track Melancholia is instantly and noteworthily captivating.

Melancholia is an impactful, engaging EP from start to finish.
