Becky Lucas is an all-around delight. In her new show, Cute Funny Smart Sexy Beautiful, Lucas is all of this and more, despite the fact that she reminds the audience that the hour is a work in progress.
That's not to say she doesn't stumble a few times, some gear about kids in cafes doesn't quite land, but for the most part, Lucas is the observational comic that women have been dreaming of.
Lucas takes well-worn subjects (dick pics, marriage, wishing that she could just sit down all day) and reinvigorates them as if they were brand new.
She's that little voice in your head that thinks up something outrageously funny yet completely inappropriate for polite company, but Lucas has the guts to spin it in front of a full audience.
Lucas is a whip-smart writer, her timing is on point and, refreshingly, she's not mean. She never punches down and any jab she takes is either warranted or thrown at herself even harder.
Becky Lucas may as well have "next big thing" tattooed on her forehead.
