Arj Barker: Go Time

Funny as always and a real pleasure to watch.

More Arj Barker More Arj Barker

One of Australia's favourite adopted sons, Arj Barker, finished off his Sydney leg of tour, 'Go Time' at the Enmore Theatre on Sunday night.

The packed crowd roared with laughter as he took to the stage, prancing around and singing his introduction in mock Broadway style. Wobbly singing and awkward dancing complete, his trademark shouting voice took over as he got into his usual joke-telling swing, touching on the themes of unemployment (“maybe some people are just done already”), picking up girls, diarrhoea and his love for Australia's drinking culture.

The recurrent theme throughout the night was cringe-worthy sayings, which got the best reception every time, including “If you don't like the joke, get a deck of cards and deal with it!” Barker seemed comfortable and in control throughout the set, even bragging to the audience that they may not like every joke, but that they can just pick the ones they find funny.

He finished the set with another singsong, this time about all the great things to buy at the merchandise stand, including a  $10 sticker set of terrible sayings. Funny as always and a real pleasure to watch.
