It’s still an impressive debut, and very much of its time.

Forty Five never really add a modern or personal streak to their dated sound, the album ultimately remaining lacklustre and unconvincing.

Still solid.

Make sure you’re screaming these songs next time they tour.

If you like the opener, Ascent, you’ll hear it ten more times before the album is done.

If you like the same bands they obviously do, you’ve heard it all before.

Plenty of kids will get their kicks from Croll’s charming arrangements and quality production, and while this album is better than much in the genre, it’s hard to get too excited about it.

It’s missing just a little bit of authenticity that might come by loosening those bowties and getting some dirt under their fingernails.
