Destroying "scene kid" garbage, one song at a time.

Heavy and fast; slow and oddly melodic; this is not only the most diverse Whitechapel album yet, it's the best.

Hard Hoarse is all about girls, cops, staying young and drugs with suitably clichéd lyrics which, combined with the stock-standard riffs and chanted choruses, make for a pretty forgettable album.

In their first examples of original material, this mash-up duo offer a concoction of punchy electronica that carries off like a celestial arcade game.

A near-perfect quiet anthem for the girls it speaks of and to.

Dirty rock’n’roll at its delectably depraved best.

It’s this more melodic factor that keeps these great tracks rolling along.

The result is slightly put-on and a little too much like Tom Waits in the desert, but would obviously work in a live setting.

The misdiagnosis could be in trying to find just one pigeonhole for what our man Harry Hookey does.
