More Xavier Rudd More Xavier Rudd

This November, Xavier Rudd is opening The Green Room, a 1,500+ capacity venue on the Bluesfest site. The venue was constructed and finished earlier this year on the same ground Bluesfest artists prepare themselves before taking the stages.

Rudd has had an exceedingly busy year since Aussie artists have been able to tour again - playing a mammoth 37-date Australian tour from May to July, and no less than 88 shows in 2022, including 50 dates in Europe from 9 September to 10 November - in support of his latest album, Jan Jun Moon, which was released in March this year.

By the time Rudd returns to Australia, he will have played in Portugal, Spain, France, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Belgium.

On Saturday, 26 November, Rudd will play his 88th show at The Green Room with special guest Bobby Alu. Sharing his anticipation, Rudd said, "It's been a massive year, and I'm stoked to play my final show on Bundjalung Country to finish things off. This new Green Room venue is gonna be great for the Byron area, and I'm excited to launch this new space."

In a statement about The Green Room, Bluesfest organiser Peter Noble OAM wrote, "People speak of hallowed ground. When it comes to music, The Green Room stands on hallowed ground given the likes of Jeff Beck, Bob Dylan, BB King, Leon Russell, Gurrumul, Mavis Staples, Kasey Chambers, Cold Chisel, Kendrick Lamar, [...] and literally hundreds more who have walked this ground since 2010. And I'm absolutely delighted that Xavier Rudd will be the first artist to perform in The Green Room."

Rudd joins Bonnie Raitt, Mavis Staples, Lucinda Williams, Jackson Browne, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Gang Of Youths and more at the 2023 edition of Bluesfest. Noble vows to put on a life-changing event, "A five-day season ticket at Bluesfest can be a life-changing experience, and I promise you I will do my utmost best to present the greatest gathering of artists I can for our 34th Annual Bluesfest at Byron Events Farm over the Easter Long Weekend from April 6 - 10 next year.
