World-first Development Program Announced For Victorian Music Managers

“I believe this program will have far-reaching effects."

The Association of Artist Managers Australia has launched a world-first professional development program that will benefit Victorian music managers.

The initiative, Gimme Shelter, will work with participants over a three-month period to help them develop workplace skills, resilience and long term strategies for mental health, both for them and their artists, and will also include an immersive two-day retreat with a psychologist.

“A key challenge articulated by our professional members is how best to navigate the challenges to keeping themselves, and their artists, resilient for long term success in the face of innumerable financial, creative and psycho-social challenges,” AAM Executive Director Leanne de Souza said.

“The AAM is proud to have co-designed this program with mental health professionals in response to a clear and urgent need in the music industry. We are grateful for the vision of the Victorian Government to provide the funding required to address this skills development as a priority.”

AAM Co-chair Rick Chazan added: “I believe this program will have far-reaching effects that will benefit not only the managers and artists but a flow on benefit to the whole music industry.”
