Social media streaming is en pointe today as five of the world's best ballet companies go online for 20-hour marathon
A new record for the longest Facebook Live broadcast will be set later today when World Ballet Day starts its annual online marathon.
While the event has streamed online for several years, this will be the first time it is broadcast via Facebook's recently introduced live streaming service. Five of the world’s best ballet companies, including our very own Australian Ballet, will be throwing open their virtual doors, offering behind the scenes footage, interviews with choreographers and dancers, and a heap of other ballet related goodness for a whopping 20-hours straight.
World Ballet day starts today, 4 Oct, at 1pm AEST with The Australian Ballet, followed by the Bolshoi Ballet (5-9pm), The Royal Ballet in London (9pm-1am), The National Ballet of Canada (1am-5am), and the San Francisco Ballet (5am-9am).
