Jimmy Cliff, Hugh Masekela, The Herd and The Cat Empire are the first four acts announced.

Australia's biggest celebration of world music, WOMADelaide, has gone forth and announced their first handful of bands who will be playing the South Australian event in March next year and they have started out strongly.

Jimmy Cliff, Hugh Masekela, The Herd and The Cat Empire are the first four acts to kick off the bill for the 2013 event, a diverse bunch of acts who are all massive crowd pullers in their own right.

Cliff is, without question, one of the most legendary reggae acts who is still regularly performing and recent shows have proven that he is still an incredible performer. Masekela is one of South Africa's most revered musicians, the contribution the trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist, composer, and singer has made to the jazz and afrobeat styles can't be overstated.

On the Aussie front, you don't get two more exciting party starting bands than The Cat Empire and The Herd, both acts deliver world class live shows full of spirit, have a swag of wonderful songs and deliver their music with such a powerful and important message.
