US rapper Murs is in the midst of a mind-blowing 24-hour rap session to set a Guinness World Record while raising money for charity.
As of right now, the American musician – whose real name is Nick Carter – is 15 hours into the #BarsForDays project, which is taking place in an LA studio. He’s setup in what appears to be a quite a comfy chair, sipping on tea – smart move, although not usually what imagery the genre conjures up.
As Billboard reports, representatives from Guinness World Records are also on the site, with the record guidelines stipulating the songs rapped by Murs must be commercial releases. Songs from the likes of A Tribe Called Quest and Wu Tang Clang have made appearances alongside original material.
With only one five-minute break allocated each hour, things might start to get a bit interesting as the project nears its end, which could very well extended past the 24-hour mark as Murs has said that timeframe is the minimum goal.
The endeavour is streaming live through Murs’ Twitch channel, with all donations received through the platform going to two GoFundMe campaigns setup for close friends in need.
“My family, friends and fans have been SUPER supportive and shown lots of love. And this morning I'd like to spread that love,” Murs said via Facebook.
