Since Kylie Minogue announced her 2025 Tension Tour dates in Australia on Thursday (19 September), there’s been something worrying her fans in Sydney.

Kylie’s Qudos Bank Arena tour dates clash with the Sydney Mardi Gras Parade and Laneway. But what if she has plans to pop over to Oxford Street for the Sydney Mardi Gras Afterparty?

Sydney Mardi Gras organisers are already teasing what many punters have been waiting for, writing on Instagram yesterday (20 September): “Happy Tension Tour announce day to all those who celebrate 💗 If you’re planning to see queen @kylieminogue on 1 March we know of a great after party… but more on that later.”

That’s as good as confirmation if you ask us.

The 2025 Sydney Mardi Gras celebrates 47 years of the iconic event and returns to Oxford Street from 14 February until 2 March. The 17-day event is set to showcase “unforgettable moments, international performers, parties, theatre, community events and more.”

As for next year’s theme, the Sydney Mardi Gras Festival theme is Free To Be—a celebration of “the strides toward true LGBTQIA+ equality while also acting as a global reminder that our fight is far from over and that we are not truly free until we are all free to be.”

Gil Beckwith, the CEO of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, said of the theme, “Free To Be is a manifesto of what our community has desired and fought for dozens of decades, and the reason why we will continue to be here, fighting, celebrating and being fiercely visible for the generations to come.

“Our theme is about making a statement to embrace and rejoice in our unique individuality as well as our collective identity. It is about the bravery to rise for each other in the darkest of times and protect the progress we’ve made, using it as a springboard toward the progress we deserve.”
