Why Is This Not The AFL Grand Final Pre-Show Line-up?

Fox Footy Festival brings the goods.

More Kingswood Kingswood

The annual Foxtel Footy Festival has today announced an awesome all-Aussie batch of music acts who are set to perform at next week's four-day event in the lead up to the AFL grand final, which begs the question: How the hell is this not the grand final pre-show line-up?

Set to perform at Yarra Park outside of the iconic MCG includes Melbourne artists, Pierce Brothers, Kingswood, Nussy, DJ Generik and newly formed super-group, Antipodean Rock & Roll Collective, made up of members of some of the country's biggest rock acts including Powderfinger, Spiderbait, You Am I and Jet.

While the bill is incredibly impressive, we can't help but scratch our heads as to how this wasn't considered for the GF pre-show, especially given the fact that fans across the country were up in arms after it was announced that international acts Ellie Goulding, Bryan Adams and Chris Isaak would hit the stage at the MCG on 4 October.

So much so, that a petition was launched calling for an all-Aussie line-up — thankfully, Foxtel Footy Festival have heeded the call.

The festival will kick off on Wednesday 30 September with performances by Pierce Brothers, Nussy and Kingswood, followed by ARC the very next night and finally Generik will perform a DJ set on Friday 2 October, before the grand final match takes place on the Saturday.
