triple j have reported that the race for the top spot is as tight as ever, with the current #1 and #2 songs in the countdown swapping spots multiple times with less than 125 votes between them.
The closest margin for the top spot ever happened in 2007 when Muse's Knights Of Cydonia beat out Silverchair's Straight Lines by 14 votes to take out the top spot.
Hottest 100 voting ends on Monday, the 23rd of January, before the countdown kicks off on Saturday, the 28th of January.
With the list so tight, there's a plethora of songs that could take out the top spot. 100 Warm Tuna's, a database that tracks people's votes via their social media posts every year, has collated their predictions for the countdown with Gang Of Youths' in the wake of your leave taking out the top spot, ahead of Ball Park Music's Stars In My Eyes at number 2 and Spacey Jane's Hardlight at number 3.

Originally thought favourite Say Nothing by Flume featuring MAY-A is predicted to land at number 4, with international favourites Delilah (pull me out of this) by Fred again.. predicted at number 7, while B.O.T.A (Baddest Of Them All) by Eliza Rose and Interplanetary Criminal and Steve Lacy's Bad Habit are predicted to land outside of the top 10 at 12 and 13, respectively.
In their prediction analysis of 2021, Warm Tunas predicted 84% of the songs in the top 100 tracks of the year. They predicted The Wiggles to win the top track while predicting 8 of the 10 top 10 songs, 14 out of the top 20 songs and 84 out of the 100 songs played in the countdown.
So will Gang of Youths take it out, will Spacey Jane catch them down, or is an international dance dark horse out in the lead? We'll have to wait and see.
