Who Are The 50 Most Powerful People In The Australian Music Industry?

First names in the 2013 AMID Power 50

About this time last year the Australasian Music Industry Directory named the top 50 most powerful people in the AMID Power 50 and with the next Power 50 edition of AMID shipping later this week, theMusic.com.au is firing up the old industry argument once again.

After hours of discussions with industry stakeholders and then within AMID collection of experts, the Power 50 2013 edition (incidentally, it's also the 50th edition of the AMID) has been finalised and is running hot off the press.

Over the next few days theMusic.com.au will be counting down the top 20 of the Power 50, with the full 50 to be released in the Australasian Music Industry Directory next week – today we start with 20-16.

Today's five individuals – all males – have all risen from their positions in last year's Power 50, evidence of a strong 12 months for each of them. Richard Moffat continued to program festivals into various states of 'sold out', Nick O'Byrne continues to put Aussie indie labels on the international map (and is priming for BIGSOUND's big chair), Peter Noble launched the Boomerang Festival at another monstrously successful Bluesfest, Matt Gudinski has visibly begun to shape the Mushroom dynasty under his father (and last year's number one) Michael, and Brett Murrihy has continued to grow Artist Voice's roster and clout, cementing it as a true powerhouse of the Australasian industry.

If last year's poll is anything to go by, the AMID Power 50 will once again prove to stimulate discussion and debate for months to come in the aim of celebrating the music industry's movers, shakers, shining lights, tastemakers and powerbrokers.
