The latest Soundwave cancellation
American outfit Whitechapel have cancelled their upcoming tour to Australia for the Soundwave Festival due to the death of an immediate family member.
The band released a short statement this morning confirming the news:
“Whitechapel unfortunately have to withdraw from upcoming visits to New Zealand and Australia due to the death of an immediate family member. The band apologies to promoters and the fans for any inconvenience caused and asks for understanding at this time”
Whitechapel also tweeted fans after the announcement came through:

It's a decision that no band wants to make, but family comes first, and we will be back as soon as we can. Thank you for understanding.

The Tennessee originated six-piece are the latest band to pull out of the heavy metal event. Last week, thrash metal icons Megadeth pulled the plug on their Soundwave tour, with the aftermath playing out on social media. Whitechapel were supposed to be on the Megadeath sidewaves bill after Dave Mustaine's band requested that Jason Newsted's Newsted be removed from the shows.
Stone Temple Pilots also cancelled their Soundwave tour last month.
